Duke Gets Ousted Early

Before any of the other number one seeds were ousted, Duke set the trend.  Experts aren?t sure if it was just a fluke or if LSU had Duke?s number from the start.  No matter what it was, the fact is that LSU had a fantastic showing and Duke was ousted much earlier than expected. 

LSU did lead for most of the game with Duke?s players only taking a small four point lead in the last eight minutes of the game.  It was clear throughout the game that the Blue Devils were being taken down by an incredible defensive effort. 

Although some say they were completely shocked by Duke?s early departure, it is the third time in the past four years the team has failed to get past the regional semifinals.  So, it probably was not that big of a surprise to many insiders.

Redick was probably the biggest disappointment of the whole game.  This star Duke player seemed like he failed to show up for the game.  He scored a mere 11 points, only making three of his 18 shots. 

Shelden Williams did make a nice appearance with 23 points and 13 rebounds.  But, with only one player making big plays, the Blue Devils went down without too much of a fight.
